Saturn was commissioned for SOLAR, a walking app that scales down the universe. On arriving at each mapped planet, the app unlocks the artwork.  It was screened at Documenta Festival, Kassel, 2017.
Saturn is a disco planet. What would it be like to disco dance in space? Chopping up found footage of disco dancers and imagining beaming them up to dance in the cold dark, lonely vastness where no one is watching, Saturn is an unnerving flipside to the pure joy and unifying delight of disco. These video images, flickering and glitched, show people dancing, but they are digitally reconstructed remnants, a reminder of what we might leave behind. Henry Miller's excerpt recorded using a robotic voice, encapsulates the despairing mood 'to dance without joy, to be so desperately alone'.
