Speak Plainly Today About Beauty was part of Poetry Light Night, commissioned by Off The Shelf Festival of Words and run by Word Life in partnership with Ruskin in Sheffield. I talk about the film in the clip above at about 1.00, and the film plays at 3.07.
The film was created to be projected live, so I used high contrast black and white images, added shadows images, and incorporated silhouettes of people walking, so that any live movement in front of the projector would add to the piece. I animated Muybridge's photos, layering them onto his backdrop, and arranging them around the design of the building they would be projected onto.
