Editing the sand. Cécile narrator. Nature and weather.

The idea is to go from very small, almost macro, showing the natural detritus on the beach that already exits before the boat arrives, and then to pull out further and further until we see footsteps, evidence of Cyril and Cécile running on the sand. The evidence approach matches Cécile's narration, where it is as if she is explaining herself to a psychotherapist. The images of the sand before they arrive provides an objective viewpoint, as if the island itself is a character. This is different to how I had imagined I would position the audience within this film, but makes sense, given how important the sea is to Cécile and how I am attempting to make the connection between the landscape, the weather and the emotions, essentially, how heady the sun, the canopy of the forest and the lull of the waves can lead to romance.

1st, middle and last images from the sand sequence.
